Privacy Policy

Last updated 8 September 2026

The short version

There is no advertising in Ready CDL Prep, and no advertising or attribution SDK in the app — no ad network, no install-attribution vendor, no social pixel. Nothing you do here follows you to another app or website.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as California defines those terms.

What we do collect is what the app needs to work: your account, your study history so your progress follows you between devices, and what you type into the AI Coach so it can answer.

1. Who we are

Ready CDL Prep is operated by Trucker Path, Inc., 2828 North Central Ave., 7th Floor, Phoenix, AZ 85004. We are the controller of the personal information described here.

This policy covers the Ready CDL Prep mobile apps and this website. Trucker Path’s general privacy policy covers its other products; where the two differ about Ready CDL Prep, this one governs.

You must be at least 18 to use the Service, so we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a minor has created an account, write to cdl-pre@truckerpath.com and we will delete it.

2. What we collect

What you give us

DataWhy
Email addressIdentifies the account, receives sign-in codes and password resets, and is how we reach you about your subscription.
PasswordStored only as a bcrypt hash. We cannot read it and cannot tell you what it is.
NameOnly if Google or Apple supplies it when you sign in that way. Used to greet you.
Test state, licence class, endorsements, target test dateChooses which questions you see and which handbook variant applies. Without a state we cannot show the right bank.
LanguageShows the interface in English or Spanish.
Feedback you sendThe message, and the contact email or phone number you choose to add — we do not fill those in for you. Sent with your app version, device model, platform, state and language, because “it crashed” is unactionable without them.
Reports about AI answersWhich generated answer you flagged and why, so we can remove or correct it. Required by Google Play’s generative AI policy.

What you create by using the app

DataWhy
Answers, practice sessions, exam attemptsEvery answer with the question, whether it was right, and how long it took. This is what produces missed questions, Daily Study and the readiness score.
Bookmarks and flagged questionsYour own marks on questions, to find them again.
Readiness score, streak, last active dayDerived from the above and shown back to you.
Daily AI usage countsEnforces the free daily limit. A count, not content.
What you type into the AI CoachYour question, and the question you were answering. See section 4.

What your device and the stores tell us

DataWhy
Push token, platform, app version, language, timezoneDelivers notifications to the right device at a sensible local hour. Recorded per device, not per account, because that is what a notification is addressed to.
Google or Apple account identifierIf you sign in that way, so we recognise you next time. We receive an identifier and, from Apple, a relay address if you chose to hide your email.
Purchase recordsThe store’s purchase token and order id, so we know what you bought and can restore it. We never see your card, and no payment details reach us.
Server logsOrdinary request logs, including IP address, kept short-term to run the service and investigate abuse.

What stays on your device

Some things never reach us. The downloaded question banks, your daily reminder time, which notification tips you have read, and answers queued while you were offline all live in the app’s own storage. Deleting the app removes them.

3. Analytics

We use Mixpanel to understand how the app is used — which screens people reach, where they stop, whether a purchase flow completes. It receives your account id as an identifier, and a small profile: language, home state, licence class, and whether you are on a paid plan.

It does not receive your email address, your name, your answers, or anything you type into the AI Coach.

There is no advertising SDK, no attribution vendor and no social pixel in this app. Comparable study apps commonly carry several. We carry none, and the app shows no ads.

4. The AI Coach

When you ask the AI Coach something, your question and the question you were working on are sent to our servers and on to OpenRouter, which routes it to a language model provider. Providers process it to produce the answer.

Do not type anything into it you would not want handled that way — no medical details, no government identifiers, no passwords. It is a study tool, and nothing it asks for requires any of those.

We cache generated answers so the same mistake does not cost a fresh generation every time. That cache is keyed to a question and the way it was answered wrong, not to a person, and it is shared between learners. It therefore survives your account being deleted, because there is nothing of yours in it.

5. Who else sees your information

We do not sell it and we do not share it for advertising. It reaches these companies because the Service cannot work otherwise:

WhoWhat they get
Apple, GoogleSign-in, purchases and notification delivery. They set their own terms for those, and their own privacy policies apply.
OpenRouter and the model providers it routes toWhat you type into the AI Coach, to answer it.
MixpanelUsage events and the small profile in section 3.
Our email providerYour address, to send sign-in codes and password resets.
Amazon Web ServicesHosts the servers and the database. Data is stored in the United States.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the Service or someone’s safety. If a company buys or merges with us, information may transfer with the business; this policy would continue to apply until you were told otherwise.

6. How long we keep it

Your account and study history are kept while your account exists. Delete the account and they go — see below. Server logs are kept short-term. Purchase records are kept as long as we need them for accounting and to honour a restore.

7. Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself, and you do not need the app to do it:

That removes your account record and your personal study history — your answers, sessions, flagged and bookmarked questions, your study plan, any pending sign-in codes, and the Google or Apple sign-ins linked to the account.

Two things are deliberately kept, and neither identifies you. Feedback you sent is kept with its link to your account removed, so that a report about a broken screen does not vanish because its author left. And the shared cache of AI answers stays, because it is keyed to a question rather than to a person.

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel that in your App Store or Google Play settings.

8. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Write to cdl-pre@truckerpath.com. We will not treat you differently for asking.

California, and other US states with privacy laws — including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas and Oregon — give residents rights to know, correct, delete, and to obtain a portable copy, and a right to appeal a refusal. The categories we collect, why, and who receives them are set out in sections 2 to 5 rather than repeated here.

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is no “Do Not Sell or Share” choice to offer. We do not use it for profiling that produces legal effects, and we do not collect sensitive personal information as those laws define it.

Under California Civil Code § 1798.83, California residents may ask once a year about personal information disclosed to third parties for their own marketing. We disclose none.

9. Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes and are not readable by us or by anyone who obtained the database. Access to production data is limited to the people who operate the Service.

No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach affects you we will tell you as the law requires.

10. Changes

If we change this policy materially — a new recipient of your data, a new purpose — we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Otherwise we will update the date at the top.
