Free Pennsylvania (PA) CDL Hazardous Materials practice test 2026

H endorsement: placarding, shipping papers and the segregation table.

What’s different in Pennsylvania

Most Hazardous Materials questions are the same federal material in every state. 2 questions in the app are written for Pennsylvania alone, from the Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's Manual (PUB 223, 6-26).

Two Pennsylvania questions, answer shown

How often must a Pennsylvania hazmat endorsement be recertified?

  1. Every five years
  2. Every four years(correct answer)
  3. Every two years
  4. Every eight years

Recertification every four years requires passing the hazmat knowledge test and completing the security threat assessment.

Handbook section 1.1.1

How far before CDL expiration does PennDOT mail hazmat recertification notices?

  1. About three months
  2. About one year
  3. About two months
  4. About seven months(correct answer)

Notices go to every hazmat endorsement holder about seven months before the CDL expires. The notice need not be presented to begin the threat assessment or take the test.

  3. 1,001 pounds or more(correct answer)
