Free Nebraska (NE) CDL Air Brakes practice test 2026

The section applicants fail most often. Pressure figures differ by state manual.

What’s different in Nebraska

Most Air Brakes questions are the same federal material in every state. One question in the app is written for Nebraska alone, from the Nebraska Commercial Driver's Manual (Nebraska Specifics).

A Nebraska question, answer shown

In Nebraska, what happens if the air brake check is performed incorrectly during the vehicle inspection test?

  1. Two points are deducted from the inspection score
  2. The entire vehicle inspection test is an automatic failure(correct answer)
  3. The examiner allows one retry before scoring the item
  4. Only the air brake item is marked wrong on the score sheet

Failing to perform the air brake check or hydraulic brake check properly is scored as an automatic failure of the entire vehicle inspection test. All four parts must be explained and demonstrated.

A sample question

One example, answer shown. Practicing the rest happens in the app.

At approximately what pressure does the air compressor governor stop pumping air into the tanks?

  1. 125 psi(correct answer)
  2. 150 psi
  3. 100 psi
  4. 60 psi

The governor 'cut-out' pressure is about 125 psi. When tank pressure falls to roughly 100 psi, the governor cuts back in and the compressor resumes pumping.
