Free Minnesota (MN) CDL Hazardous Materials practice test 2026

H endorsement: placarding, shipping papers and the segregation table.

What’s different in Minnesota

Most Hazardous Materials questions are the same federal material in every state. One question in the app is written for Minnesota alone, from the Minnesota Commercial Driver's Manual (PS30002-33), Part A and Part B.

A Minnesota question, answer shown

An 18-year-old drives a 3,000-gallon petroleum tank truck only within Minnesota. Is that permitted?

  1. Yes, but only if the truck's GVWR stays at or below 26,000 pounds
  2. Yes, a tank under 3,500 gallons hauling petroleum intrastate qualifies at 18(correct answer)
  3. No, every placarded hazmat load requires a driver at least 21 years old
  4. No, petroleum needs an X endorsement, which is never issued under age 21

Minnesota generally requires 21 for hazmat but lets drivers of motorized tank trucks under 3,500 gallons carrying petroleum intrastate, and employees of fertilizer or ag-chemical retailers delivering to farms, drive at 18 within the state.

A sample question

One example, answer shown. Practicing the rest happens in the app.

Except for bulk packaging, hazard classes listed in Table 2 require placards only when the total amount transported reaches:

  1. 2,205 pounds or more
  2. Any amount at all
  3. 1,001 pounds or more(correct answer)
  4. 500 pounds or more

Table 2 materials need placards once the aggregate gross weight, including packaging, reaches 1,001 pounds. Table 1 materials must be placarded in any amount.
