What’s different in District of Columbia
Most Air Brakes questions are the same federal material in every state. One question in the app is written for District of Columbia alone, from the District of Columbia Commercial Driver's License Manual (2005 CDL Testing System, Version July 2014).
- Low air warning on the written air brakes test: Before pressure drops below 60 psi. The national model manual says 55 psi.District of Columbia manual, section 5.1.4
A District of Columbia question, answer shown
A District of Columbia driver watches the air gauge fall during the pre-trip check. By what pressure must the low air warning already be showing?
- A75 psi
- B50 psi
- C55 psi
- 60 psi(correct answer)
The manual used in the District of Columbia sets the visible low air pressure warning at 60 psi, higher than the 55 psi in the AAMVA model manual. Older vehicles may use one half the governor cut-out pressure instead.
